2024 Chicago Area Riichi Tournament

As the largest city in the Great Lakes region, we offer a location convenient for all regions in the USA/CAN.  We look to provide a tournament location for players from all regions to come together.

We chose a location just minutes from O’Hare International Airport. This will make travel convenient for all forms, whether by flight or by road trip.

The 2024 edition of the Chicago Area Riichi Tournament is set for the following dates:

September 21 and 22

Location: Hyatt Regency O’Hare Chicago

Address: 9300 Bryn Mawr Avenue, Rosemont, Illinois, United States, 60018

Hotel Room Block: $159 per night (Reserve room here)

Transportation: (list)

  • Hotel shuttle. A shuttle bus with the Hyatt is available. This transportation connects O’Hare with the Hyatt: https://trackmyshuttle.com/a/9300
  • CTA Blue line from O’Hare (ORD) to Rosemont station (1stop).
  • Anyone landing at Chicago Midway (MDW) will be taking the CTA Orange line with transfer to Blue line at Lake.
  • Amtrak rail. Board all the way to Chicago Union Station, and make your way to the CTA Blue line at Clinton.
  • Via road trip, parking options are available within the Rosemont area. Parking prices will vary depending on location.

Restaurants: The Hyatt itself has some dining options throughout the day. The area also has some restaurant options within 15 minute walking distance from the hotel.

Tournament Information

WRC Qualification status: Approved for points to the US Final Qualifier.

Registration: Open to the general mahjong public. Paid entrants will be listed below.

Registration Open: Sunday, April 28 (1 week after announcement) Sign up form.

Registration Close: Monday, September 16

Tournament entry fee: $80

Communication: Tournament discord. As well as via e-mail.

Tournament Format: Two-day N-hanchan round robin. N will depend on scheduling. Followed by semifinal and final brackets (2 hanchan each).

Tournament cap number: 100

Ruleset: 2022 WRC Rules. Modified per the Optional Document. Details to be noted.
